Mazars has appointed Asam Malik as Partner to lead its technology solutions team in the UK. He joins the firm with a national remit, and will focus on driving further growth in a team aiming to double in size over the next 12 months.

With Deloitte, PwC, EY and KPMG having been routinely criticised for the quality of their accounting work in recent times, mid-tier professional services companies have sought to bolster their headcounts and capacities to take advantage of the new work which negative press and watchdog censure could their way. One such firm is Mazars, which recently sought to further boost its credentials in the UK auditing scene and add to its 1,700 employees with a deal for medical accountancy Hall Liddy.

Now as the firm looks to strengthen in other areas, it has installed former Big Four stalwart Asam Malik as Partner to lead Mazars’ technology solutions team in the UK. Malik joins with a national remit, and will focus upon driving further growth in a team aiming to double in size over the next twelve months. Mazars Technology Solutions offers a broad spectrum of services, covering cyber security, IT advisory, data analytics, IT audit, IT operations, programme assurance and forensic technologies.

Asam Malik, Partner at Mazars

Malik arrives from Big Four firm PwC, where he led the technology risk team across Newcastle and Manchester. There he accrued 19 years of experience advising clients on technology across a wide range of sectors, and was most recently a Director. In his new role at Mazars, Malik will also take responsibility for embedding a ‘people first’ culture with an emphasis on learning and development, sparking innovation across new and existing offers, and consistently delivering outstanding quality to clients.

Peter Cudlip, Mazars UK Head of Consulting, said, “With the rapid pace of technological change and growing proliferation of data-intensive functions, this is a pivotal time for businesses across all sectors. We are building a vibrant, innovative group of experts to help our clients navigate these complex challenges, and Asam’s skills and experience are the perfect complement to our national team. His arrival signals an exciting moment in the development of our Technology offering, and we look forward to building for the future with him on board.”
