Global engineering consultancy Arcadis has confirmed the appointment of former Arup professional Nadim Choudhary, who becomes a Director at the firm’s London office. Choudhary will now head up Arcadis’s Safety Risk Management and Human Factors team in the UK.

Arcadis is a global professional services firm for natural and built assets, specialising in design and consultancy services. It has a global headcount of 27,000 and is active in over 70 countries. Despite its global entity reporting a multi-million pound loss in its most recent annual results, Arcadis enjoyed growth of 13% in the UK in 2018. As the firm looks to drive further demand in 2019, it has installed a new Director at its Kings Cross office in London.

Nadim Choudhary brings a total of 13 years applying his knowledge to Risk Management having had the experience of  working in a multitude of different sectors including Energy, Water, Transport and Cities. Choudhary has worked across clients including UBS, Virgin, State Street Bank, Transport for London, HS2, Crossrail and Shell. He joins Arcadis from Arup, where he began work in 2012. Over the following seven years, he rose to head up the Risk team in 2018, a role he held alongside sitting as a Non-Executive on the Audit and Risk Committee for Queen Mary, University of London.

During his time as an Associate Director at Arup, he and his team won four separate awards, were finalists at seven others and opened a new office in Manchester, with Choudhary taking responsibility for the expansion of the team, clients and projects whilst building it into a reputable practice within the industry.  A new role at rival engineering consultancy Arcadis will now see Choudhary lead Arcadis’ Safety Risk Management and Human Factors team in the UK. As of the 10th of June, he has taken responsibility for all safety risk and human factors work across the UK.

Speaking to Consultancy.uk last year, Choudhary said that he believed the Risk industry is constantly evolving and facing new challenges. As a result, he stated it was imperative to contribute to the wider industry on a personal level, talking and presenting at events around the world. A year on, he feels that the transition to Arcadis is the best platform for him to make that difference.

Choudhary said of his move, “I believe Arcadis is a fantastic place for the next part of my career journey… It has picked up a string of accolades including Forbes 2018, Best Management Consulting Firms and it was ranked New Civil Engineers (NCE) 100, as the top firm to work for and with in 2018. This gives me great confidence in that I am going to a firm which strives for excellence in everything it does whilst also looking after its most important asset, its people. It has a great vision which is improving the quality of life which is something I aspire to.”
