Deloitte Consulting hires Jonathan Gray from Capco
Deloitte Consulting has recently hired Jonathan Gray from rival Capco. Gray joins the Big Four as a partner in its London-based financial services consultancy practice.
Jonathan Gray has over 20 years’ experience working with global companies across retail banking, wealth management, credit cards and insurance in the UK, Europe and US. After graduating from Cambridge University he started his career with Accenture, at the time Andersen Consulting. Gray worked more than 20 years for Accenture, serving as, among others, engagement partner for a wide range of large-scale transformations and lead client service partner (LCSP) for Barclays. In his most recent role he acted as Senior Executive within the banking industry practice.
In 2013 Gray, together with a team of several high-profile Accenture consultants*, moved to rival Capco, a global consulting firm that specialises in the financial services industry. At Capco, Gray spent slightly under two years, focussing on projects in the field of among others retail banking, wealth management, and insurance.
Earlier this year Gray has decided to embark on a new adventure, remaining within the consulting industry, and joined Deloitte Consulting. Gray is based in London and serves as a partner in the firm’s financial services consultancy practice. “Digital marketing, web and mobile solutions and web analytics have never been more important for banks and insurers, and we’re building our team with key appointments like Jonathan so our clients can grow through these challenges”, comments Richard Widdas, Deloitte’s Head of financial services consulting.
Gray on his move and new employer: “Traditional financial services companies are being disrupted by new products and services, business models and ways of working with customers. This is all enabled by digital, and both challenger businesses and our traditional clients are very active in responding to this opportunity. The financial services digital consulting market has expanded rapidly and is forecast to grow by 20% - 25%. Deloitte is investing heavily in digital and we are well placed to help our clients make the right choices in this rapidly evolving sector.”
In its turn, last month Capco was part of a similar partner-exchange with direct competitors. Bao-Viet Lê joined the firm from Accenture, while Charles Bokman transferred from PwC. They both co-lead Capco’s newly launched operations in Singapore.
* Among others Christopher Geldard, Jonathan Gray and Nic Parmaksizian moved from Accenture’s Banking practice to Capco in 2013. Capco’s current CEO for the UK, Steve Vinnicombe, also has a background with Accenture.
