Dave North has become the 100th member of ForrestBrown’s UK operations. He brings two decades of specialist knowledge in technology to the rapidly growing tax credit consultancy.

ForrestBrown is one of the UK’s largest specialist R&D tax credit consultancies, and works to help clients access R&D tax rulings, enabling new firms to push ahead with new technological and scientific plans. With Brexit pressures making innovation increasingly important for the health of the UK economy, ForrestBrown has been preparing for a spike in demand by expanding its tax associate programme in 2019. The firm of chartered tax advisers, headquartered in Bristol, confirmed late last year that it would be recruiting numerous new associates in April, plus a further eight in the summer.

Less than half way through the year, this drive for new talent has seen ForrestBrown reach a significant milestone, welcoming its 100th employee to its ranks. Dave North joins the firm as a Sector Specialist focusing on technology, and will work among its rapidly expanding team of specialist tax advisers, sector specialists, lawyers and ex-HMRC inspectors.

North brings extensive technical experience, having worked with clients in a wide variety of sectors. Most recently he worked as Head of Technology at True Digital. Prior to that two-year stay, he fulfilled the same role for a year with 3Sixty Design. He holds a degree in Engineering with Management Studies, which he obtained from Aston University.

Commenting on his new role, North said, “I’m excited to be able to combine my passion for technology and software development with ForrestBrown’s mission to help innovative businesses grow. Their values and work ethic align with my own, and it’s exciting to join a company that’s expanding so quickly and is so well-known for their client service. And the new offices look fantastic too. It’s a good feeling to become part of a company that believes in giving something back.”

Speaking on the firm’s landmark, Simon Brown, Managing Director and Founder of ForrestBrown, added, “Celebrating the arrival of our 100th employee is a fantastic milestone for ForrestBrown. It marks the start of our next phase of development and continued growth plans… Dave joins us at a very exciting time and his appointment reflects our desire to provide specialist technical expertise to our clients. With HMRC recently publishing new guidance for software R&D tax credit claims, Dave’s appointment is well-timed as we help our digital client base navigate this complex area.”

In the coming months, ForrestBrown will be looking to further expand, with the news it is moving to a new headquarters elsewhere in Bristol. The office will give the firm – recently featured in the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Small Companies to Work For – more space to accommodate its growing team.
