Harvard expert Ariel Pakes joins Cornerstone Research
Economic consulting firm Cornerstone Research has appointed Ariel Pakes, the Thomas Professor of Economics at Harvard University, as a senior adviser in its US practice. Pakes is globally recognised as a leading expert in the field of industrial organisation, technological change, and econometric modeling.
With more than 500 staff operating from eight offices across the US* and UK (London), Cornerstone Research is one of the largest consultancies specialised in economic / financial consulting and expert testimony. The firm operates with a core team of consultants and industry practitioners, complemented by a network of affiliated faculty professionals.
Recently the consulting firm announced it had bolstered its team with the addition of Harvard Professor Ariel Pakes, recognised globally as a leader in industrial organisation. Pakes’s expertise includes competition, intellectual property, healthcare, and the economics of technology. He has served as an economic consultant and provided expert testimony in court and through depositions. In addition, he has done work for a number of consultancies, US and European government agencies, and large corporations. “Ariel’s work has an enormous impact on the field of empirical industrial organisation,” says Cornerstone Research President and CEO Michael Burton. “His research has paved the way for much of the current empirical work in industrial organisation and other fields that use structural modeling, which is indicative of the level of knowledge he brings to our clients’ matters.”
Professor Pakes received the Frisch Medal of the Econometric Society and was elected as a fellow of that society. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a distinguished fellow of the Industrial Organization Society. Pakes has served on a number of National Science Foundation panels, including the Presidential Fellow Advisory Board. He has co-chaired the American Economic Association’s Census Advisory Panel.
In March Cornerstone Research strengthened its team with Stuart Gilson, who has been with Harvard Business School for more than twenty years, and is regarded a leading expert in the area of financial advisory.
