Healthcare UK advisory board appoints Richard Cantlay
Mott MacDonald professional Richard Cantlay has been appointed to Healthcare UK’s advisory board, as the organisation looks to promote the nation’s health sector abroad. Cantlay brings more than two decades of consulting industry experience to the role.
Healthcare UK is part of the UK government’s Department of Health and Social Care and the Department for International Trade. Healthcare UK promotes Britain’s healthcare sector to overseas markets and supports healthcare partnerships between the UK and overseas healthcare organisations.
As the organisation looks to provide inroads for investors into the market in 2019, it has appointed a new member of its advisory board, in the form of the Global Head of Healthcare Buildings at Mott MacDonald. Richard Cantlay will leverage his extensive experience in the healthcare sector to support strategy and annual business plans, as well as the development of Healthcare UK's strategic direction.
Cantlay has already worked closely with Healthcare UK for the past three years, supporting several overseas missions. Following that spell, he received the invitation to join the advisory board from Baroness Fairhead and Lord O’Shaughnessy, the Ministers jointly responsible for Healthcare UK’s activities.
He arrived at Mott MacDonald in 1998, having completed a degree in Civil Engineering with the University of Aberdeen. In his current role at Mott MacDonald, which he will retain alongside his two-year advisory position with Healthcare UK, Cantlay works with various regions around the world to evaluate their healthcare markets and associated opportunities. He develops and implements global healthcare strategy supported by regional strategies and secures the appropriate delivery teams to deliver growth.
Commenting on his appointment, Cantlay said, “I am delighted to be appointed to Healthcare UK’s advisory board, contributing to the important work that they are doing to promote the UK healthcare sector to overseas markets. Healthcare UK are making great progress in supporting healthcare partnerships between UK and overseas healthcare providers and I am proud to be associated with them.”
