Former Deloitte professional Lindsay Dixon has been appointed as CFO of Scottish broadcaster STV. A chartered accountant, Dixon spent two years with the Big Four firm, before assuming senior positions at Johnston Press, The Weir Group and William Grant & Sons.

STV is a franchise of ITV and broadcasts much of the same content – such as ‘I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!’ – on Scotland's third channel. With the largest shareholder of the Scottish television network STV having recently slapped a £200 million price tag on the company amid rumours of a full-on takeover by ITV, 2019 looks set to be a busy year for the broadcaster.

Adding to the number of changes seemingly facing the company, George Watt, the incumbent Chief Financial Officer of STV, announced his intention to step down from his role. Following Watt’s decision, STV has been searching for his successor. This has led to the appointment of ex-Deloitte auditor Lindsay Dixon, who will take on the role as of the second quarter of 2019.

Dixon, who is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland, is currently Group Financial Controller at famous whiskey distiller William Grant & Sons, having joined in 2016. She held the same position at global engineering company The Weir Group for the four previous years. Dixon also spent more than four years as Group Head of Finance at media group Johnston Press, which entered into administration in November 2018. Prior to this, she was a Senior Audit Manager at Deloitte, where she spent two years.

Commenting on the appointment, Simon Pitts, Chief Executive of STV, said, “Lindsay was the stand-out candidate in an extremely strong field and I am delighted she is joining STV at such an exciting time in the delivery of our strategic growth plan. She brings extensive plc experience from a diverse range of sectors, including commercial media, and I am very much looking forward to working with her.”

Dixon herself added, “I am really excited to be joining STV as the company progresses an ambitious growth strategy and look forward to working with Simon, the board and the wider team at STV.”
