Carter Jonas appoints new waste management team
Carter Jonas has appointed David Sandbrook, Huw Richards, Michael Hayes and Alexa Phelps to its ranks from SLR Consulting. The quartet will work to enhance the property consultancy’s mineral and waste management offering, which has enjoyed booming demand in recent years.
London headquartered Carter Jonas are multi-disciplinary property consultants, chartered surveyors and estates agents. Following heightened demand in minerals and waste management – a point of differentiation for Carter Jonas – the national property consultancy made it a long-term priority to enhance its capabilities in the sector. This has seen the appointment of a new team from environmental and advisory solutions company SLR Consulting.
The four join the firm’s Birmingham office and a newly established satellite office in Cardiff. They will bring new expertise to Carter Jonas’ established minerals and waste-management team, widening the scope of services and its geographical reach to provide professional advice to land and mineral owners, financial institutions, infrastructure clients and businesses across the country.
David Sandbrook joins as a Partner. Sandbrook is a Chartered Surveyor and Chartered Planner, having previously been a Partner at GVA and a Director at SLR Consulting. Recognised as a leading practitioner in his field, he regularly acts as an expert witness in mineral and waste valuation and development legal cases. He is currently an elected Member of RICS Governing Council, holding the Land Strategy seat, and also sits on RICS Knowledge Board, the Land & Resources Global Board and the East Midlands Regional Board.
Huw Richards similarly arrives as a Partner, joining with more than 20 years’ experience in the industry. He specialises in the valuation of mineral and waste-management assets, corporate portfolios and individual properties and major sites for a variety of purposes, including compulsory purchase, private funding, loan security, litigation, financial reporting, taxation, mergers, acquisitions and sales. A fellow SLR alumni, he has international experience, having spent two years in the firm’s Sydney office.
Michael Hayes becomes an Associate Partner at Carter Jonas, having previously held roles at Savills and Innes England. He focuses on valuation and due diligence, advising banks for secured lending purposes, as well as clients on the acquisition, disposal and negotiation of land and rights.
Alexa Phelps will be a Surveyor at the company, bringing with her nearly 10 years of experience in the property sector. She has managed a number of client portfolios, including a variety of unique property assets including concrete batching plants, quarries, brickworks and waste and recycling facilities.
