Banking sector expert Chris Carter has joined business finance consultancy Liquidity Club, as the firm looks to expand its operations across the North of England. Carter, who has previously worked for HSBC, RBS and Natwest, will serve as Liquidity Club’s Regional Director for the North West region.

Launched in 2017, Liquidity Club is a division of the Finance 4 Business group, a commercial finance broker dedicated to providing specialist finance solutions to the intermediary market place throughout the whole of the UK. Liquidity was founded as an alternative business channel for funders to assist SME’s looking to raise finance to support growth and present impartial financial solutions that are tailored to suit each individual business.

The Birmingham-headquartered professional services firm has been working to spread its operations across the rest of the UK since its launch a year ago, and has spread into the North of England from its base in the Midlands. With an office in Sheffield, the firm is now looking to concentrate on growth in the North West in particular, and to that end has appointed financial sector stalwart Chris Carter to its ranks, as a Regional Director for the North West.

Carter’s new role will see him work across the region, which includes Manchester, and will work alongside colleagues in Liquidity’s Birmingham and Sheffield teams. He will help the firm with providing debt advisory, cash-flow solutions and intermediary options to SMEs throughout the area. Carter brings extensive experience in the banking and financial services sector, having worked in it for more than a decade, including the duration of the global financial crisis.

Most recently, this saw him positioned as an Investment Manager for Mercia Fund Managers, where he worked for the past two years. Prior to this, Carter was stationed with the Royal Bank of Scotland for another two years, most recently as a Relationship Director in corporate banking, on the back of a six-year spell with NatWest, which latterly saw him hold the role of Specialised Relationship Manager. Earlier in his career, Carter also spent three years with HSBC, where he reached the rank of Business Specialist before exiting in 2008.

Commenting on his latest challenge, Carter said, “The North West is a thriving region and I am looking forward to spending time with business owners to understand their business plans and structure the appropriate finance solutions with the right funding partners. The ethos at the Liquidity Club is very much around simplifying what can be a daunting process and by working in partnership with businesses we can achieve a tailored funding package to support their future aspirations.”

Adam Simpson, a Commercial Director with Liquidity Club, added, “Chris’ appointment comes at a time of growth for Liquidity Club as we look to increase our presence in the North West to meet the increasing demand for our services… Chris has a great network of contacts across the Manchester and North West business community and brings considerable experience in the financial sector and local market to the Liquidity Club team.”
