90TEN appoints two new professionals amid rapid growth
UK-headquartered consultancy 90TEN Communications has appointed two new members of staff in response to heavy demand across its operations. Abigail Last has joined the firm as an Associate Director, while Jaya Shumoogam has arrived as a Senior Medical Writer.
90TEN is a global independent healthcare communications consulting firm. Founded in 2001, the Battersea-based business specialises in using proven behavioural change tools to maximise brand engagement. Earlier in the year, the PR Week Top 150 UK Consultancies report named 90TEN the UK’s fastest-growing healthcare consultancy and third fastest-growing PR consultancy overall (for consultancies with annual revenue above £3 million).
The firm’s rapid expansion in 2018 has necessitated a period of quick-fire headcount growth in order to meet booming demand. In May 2018, this saw Sabrina Gomersall appointed to the newly created role of Director and Head of Client Service for the consultancy’s PR division, joining from Chandler Chicco Agency. Meanwhile, in a sector where recruitment is challenging, 90TEN continued to secure the brightest talent, growing its team to more than 40 overall.
Now, the firm has continued its pursuit of top human resources with the appointment of Abigail Last as an Associate Director at 90TEN. Last joins the communications consultancy from MSL, where she spent 18 months, also as an Associate Director, prior to which she served at Porter Novelli London and before that Red Door Unlimited, during a 10 year career in the industry.
Commenting on her joining of 90TEN via her personal LinkedIn, Last said, “Thrilled to be part of the 90TEN family. It’s such an exciting time to be a part of the agency...so many great new colleagues, clients and exciting times ahead!”
Jaya Shumoogam meanwhile will take a leading role in delivering client work at 90TEN, bringing 12 years of experience to her new role as Senior Medical Writer. She arrives at 90TEN from Ketchum’s Inspired Science, where she was a Medical Writer, having previously been a Managing Editor at Thomson Reuters, on the back of a three year spell as a Scientific Editor at Thomson Scientific.
Commenting on both arrivals, Carole North, 90TEN’s CEO, said, “Recruitment in healthcare communications is challenging, so we work hard to make 90TEN a place where the brightest brains in our sector want to come to build their careers and share their expertise. Recruiting talented, inspiring people like Abigail and Jaya helps us to make 90TEN one of the best consultancies in the industry and we are delighted to welcome them to the team.”
