RSM promotes Stephen Green and appoints Ian Brown
RSM has promote Stephen Green to the role of head of its Transaction Services Financial Due Diligence practice, based out of Manchester. The firm also recently announced a further strengthening of its VAT and Indirect Tax practice in Scotland, with the appointment of Ian Brown as a Manager in its Glasgow team.
Prior to joining RSM in 2011, Stephen Green worked at BDO in its Transaction Services Financial Due Diligence practice as a Director; he was with the firm for five years, starting in 2005. This followed a similar five year spell at KPMG for five years, most recently as a Manager in the firm’s Transaction Services Financial Due Diligence practice. Earlier roles include Audit Senior at Jolliffe Cork; Audit Clerk at Bartfield & Co and Audit Clerk at Taylor Nicholson & Co, where he started out in 1990.
RSM's promotion of Green sees him become head of the firm's Financial Due Diligence for Northern England. He brings more than 15 years of experience in the due diligence transaction services space to the role, particularly in relation to of buy and sell side financial due diligence projects, with focus on international cross border transactions. Green will preside over his new position in Manchester – where he has moved permanently.

Prior to joining RSM, Ian Brown worked at Scott-Moncrieff as a VAT Consultant for two years. He was previously at Liaison Financial Services in various roles, most recently as a VAT Manager, from 2015, and previously a Senior VAT Executive, from 2012, and a VAT Advisor from 2009.
Brown holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from The University of Dundee and is a Chartered Tax Adviser from the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
The appointment sees Brown join RSM’s VAT and Indirect Tax team in Scotland as a Manager. He brings an array of knowledge to the accounting and consulting firm, including negotiating with HMRC; obtaining VAT refunds; and client focused VAT system audits. His appointment follows the wider expansion of the firm’s Glasgow team, in line with its ambition to growth its business in Scotland.
