FTI Consulting hires Michael Ovalles as a Managing Director
FTI Consulting have boosted their CFO Solutions practice with the hire of transformations expert Michael Ovalles, who joins the firm following more than a decade at PwC. As a Managing Director in the practice, Ovalles is tasked with supporting CFOs engage with what is becoming an increasingly fast paced business environment.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Michael Ovalles spent almost 13 years with PwC. He initially joined the Big Four consulting firm in 2004 as a Senior Associate in its Finance Effectiveness practice, based in Chicago, before promotion in 2006 saw him become Manager. In 2010 he was again promoted, this time to the role of Director. In 2012 he relocated to Florida, where he expanded the firm’s South East Finance Transformation business. Earlier in his career, between 1998 and 2002, he worked at INTESA as an Account Administrator in Oil & Lubricants.
Ovalles holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance and General Management, a qualification he gained from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign - College of Business, along with being a Certified Public Accountant Degree after studying at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello.
Ovalles has been appointment by FTI Consulting as a Managing Director in the firm’s CFO Solutions practice, and will remain based in Miami. He brings more than a decade of experience to the role, and is tasked with the delivery of finance transformation expertise to the firm’s CFO clients, seeking to design and implement agile finance functions in a rapidly changing environment.
Gina Gutzeit, Leader of the CFO Solutions practice at FTI Consulting, remarked on the appointment, “CFOs must deploy resources effectively as they are called upon to provide greater insights into business strategy and operations. With nearly 20 years of experience, Michael strengthens our ability to help clients achieve efficiencies and address opportunities in their finance organisations.”
Meanwhile, Ovalles himself commented on his excitement at taking up the position at a time of constant change for CFOs. “Forward-looking CFOs are constantly evolving the operating model of the finance function in view of increasing challenges, changing demands and the impact of technology megatrends. Game changers like Big Data and analytics, cloud and mobile present both challenges and opportunities for CFOs to rethink their finance organisations," Ovalles said.
