Arcadis nominates Wee Gee Ang for Supervisory Board

Ang's ascension to the Acradis' Supervisory Board was confirmed at the firm’s Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, and will serve an initial four year term. The appointment will see him fill the vacancy left by the departure of George Nethercutt, who after 12 years in the role, is ineligible for re-appointment according to the firm’s rules.

Aside from the approval of Ang to the Board role, the firm is also underwent wide-spread leadership change. Following the departure of former CEO Neil McArthur late in 2016 after the engineering firm underwent a sharp 34% fall in third-quarter operating income before interest, taxation and depreciation, CFO Renier Vree had been fulfilling the role on an interim basis. At the AGM, Peter Oosterveer was appointed as McArthur's successor with immediate effect. Oosterveer was joined by Mary Ann Hopkins, who only joined Arcadis in September 2016, before being appointed to the Executive Board. Hopkins will be responsible for Arcadis’ businesses in the Americas.

At the same meeting Niek Hoek, Chairman of the Supervisory Board since January 2015, and Ruth Markland, chair of the Renumeration Committee, were reappointed to the Arcadis Supervisory Board for an additional four years.

Commenting on the new appointment, Hoek commented in his capacity as Chairman, "[Wee Gee Ang] has experience in the property development business in Asia as well as in professional services internationally, and his proven capability to develop business opportunities in Asia, will be important assets to Arcadis... I also want to thank George Nethercutt for his contributions to Arcadis over the past 12 years. He has been a valuable member of the Supervisory Board and we all wish him well for the future."
