Baringa Partners opens permanent office in New York

Baringa Partners has opened a permanent office in New York to better serve its local financial services clients. The new office is led by Partner James Nicholls, and will initially have a team of eleven consultants.

Baringa Partners is expanding its footprint into New York city in a bid to better support its US financial services clients meet the challenges of a rapidly changing competitive and regulatory landscape. The industry faces a host of challenges, from the potential of disruptive technologies wielded by FinTechs, incumbents or tech giants disrupting markets, to more stringent regulatory requirements as a result of recent scandals, data protection requirements and the financial crisis more generally.

The new office, which aims to support both domestic and international clients, offers the firm’s full range of capabilities, with particular focus on risk and compliance and process transformation services. To lead the arm Baringa has put forward Partner James Nicholls, a former Strategic Finance Manager at the Europe Arab Bank and Accenture alumnus – his in 2011 launched Risk and Compliance practice at Baringa has grown to a $15 million in business in the UK, US and Germany.

The new office will initially have a team of eleven: Nicholls will be joined by five Baringa consultants who have moved over from London and five local experts. Throughout 2017 the firm plans to further expand the firm’s presence in the city.
