Anthesis Consulting Group acquires Bristol based Sustain
Anthesis Consulting Group has acquired Bristol-based sustainable energy consultancy Sustain. The acquisition, its tenth bolt on globally since its founding in 2013, adds additional capacity in the energy & carbon management market to Anthesis’s portfolio in the United Kingdom.
Headquartered in San Francisco, Anthesis Consulting Group is a specialist consultancy firm, with six offices across the UK. The firm is guided by the principle that sustainability and commercial success are not mutually exclusive. The consultancy helps clients make sustainability a core concern of the business lifecycle and with meeting compliance targets.
Sustainis an energy & carbon management consultancy firm, situated in Bristol. The firm, founded in 1997, has a staff of nearly 40 and offers a range of sustainability propositions in line with new energy technology and legislation – its focus lies particularly on the UK’s built environment.
Anthesis’ acquisition of Sustain bolsters its portfolio of propositions in the energy & carbon management market. The turnkey solutions, advisory and project management offered by Sustain fit, according to Stuart McLachlan, CEO of Anthesis, into the firm's wider goals to become a leader in the expanding sustainability market – in the face of global climate, waste and pollution challenges requiring sustainable solutions.
McLachlan adds: “Joining forces with Sustain allows us to enhance the Group’s offering in the energy efficiency market, an area where we are seeing particular growth. We are now able to support our clients in the end-to-end design and implementation of energy and carbon management projects; there are great synergies for Anthesis and Sustain, with strong alignment between our delivery ethos and driving business value through sustainability.”
The deal adds additional clout to its UK operations, enhancing the firm’s presence in London and Bristol with 38 employees. Sustain CEO, Tobias Parker, takes on a Managing Director role at Anthesis. Parker says that the firm is “excited” to become part of the Anthesis Group, stating, “With the ratification of the Paris Agreement, the global energy system is clearly evolving and being part of the Group allows us to play on a bigger stage through their global reach. We are looking forward to joining forces with a talented and committed leadership team, helping organisations on their journey to a sustainable future.”
Yesterday another European and UK based energy consultancy was purchased by an American player: Navigant acquired Ecofys.
