Nomura executive Devesh Mehta joins Grant Thornton as Partner
Grant Thornton has hired financial services expert Devesh Mehta, who joins from Nomura where he was CAO of its EMEA region. Mehta takes a Partner role within the firm’s Business Risk Services practice – he will, among others, lead and expand the firm’s Finance and Risk Advisory offerings.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Devesh Mehta worked at Nomura International where he, since joining the firm in 2007, rose to the rank of CAO of the EMEA region in 2015, responsible for Technology, Operations, Real Estate and Corporate Communications. Previously, he was the firm’s EMEA CFO, from 2011, its EMEA head of Finance, from 2010, and the firm’s EMEA Controller from 2007.
Mehta holds a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages from the University of Durham and a Master of Business Administration in Finance and Financial Management Services from the European University Antwerp.
The appointment sees Mehta join Grant Thornton UK’s Business Risk Services (BRS) team as Partner. The addition strengthens the firm’s offering with more than 18 years of financial services experience. Mehta’s new role will see him lead and develop the firm’s Finance and Risk Advisory propositions, as well as support the firm’s client base in a fast changing regulatory and business environment – as the referendum result sinks in. A recent analysis from FTI Consulting, for instance, found that institutional investors are facing growing concerns about the impact of the Brexit, while another report, by PwC, warned that London risks losing its status as Europe's financial services capital.
Ewen Fleming, Partner and Financial services group practice leader at Grant Thornton, says that the firm is “delighted” to welcome Devesh to the team. “His considerable experience in corporate and investment banking and strong network in the sector will add another degree of strength to our existing team, particularly in our work with Corporate Banking and Asset Management clients. The appointment demonstrates the continued investment in our Financial Services Group and dedication to ensuring we continue to meet our clients’ needs,” he adds.
Devesh says, “I am looking forward to using the breadth of my experience to enhance the firm’s already strong assurance offering and working collaboratively with the broader Financial Services team here at Grant Thornton.”
