Capgemini UK wins Sustainability Leaders Award

Consulting firm Capgemini has been awarded for its business travel carbon reduction programme, TravelWell, with the Sustainable Transport & Travel Award handed out during the Sustainability Leaders Awards on 19 November 2014 in London.

The Sustainability Leaders Awards recognises true leadership and innovation among companies and organisations that are progressive in embedding sustainability throughout their operations. The Awards are handed out to businesses and organisations across the public and private sectors of all sizes in 14 different categories, including Carbon Management, Water Management, Sustainability Leader Consultancy, Energy Efficiency, Waste & Resource Management, Sustainability Leader (Person), and Sustainable Systems & Software.

On Wednesday 19 November, the eight edition of the annual Awards were organised by information resource Edie at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London.

Capgemini wins Sustainability Transport & Travel Award

Consulting firm Capgemini was among the 14 winners and won the Award for the ‘Sustainable Transport & Travel’ category. Capgemini won the Award for its TravelWell programme, a programme that focuses on carbon reduction target related to business travel*. The programme won as a result of its overwhelming success and multi-faceted approach, as its saves money and enables employees to have a better work-life balance.  The jury commented that Capgemini has “shown immense commitment to achieving meaningful cultural change in often what is a sensitive area of business travel.” Tony Deans, CFO at Capgemini UK and the Executive Sponsor of the TravelWell programme, comments: “TravelWell is a programme that doesn’t stand still. We continue to evolve the programme, introducing innovative updates on a regular basis. Awards such as this validate our approach and demonstrate that we are leading the way.”

* The TravelWell programme plays a vital role in Capgemini’s target to reduce travel carbon emissions by 30%. The programme offers employees the right tools to make travel informed decisions and supports them to find ways to travel less or not at all.
