Richard Baxter joins FTI Consulting from A&M Taxand

FTI Consulting has in the UK appointed Richard Baxter as a Senior Managing Director and Head of its Indirect Taxation practice. Baxter, who joins from Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, will be based in London.

Richard Baxter has more than 25 years of experience advising both the public and private sectors across a wide range of industries specialising in indirect tax. He has advised both major UK and U.S. multinationals on domestic and international value-added tax (‘VAT’) issues, partial exemption methodologies, transaction-based VAT-planning, indirect tax compliance, customs duties, and tax litigation. His clients included among others Infonet Services Corporation, DACOM, Hutchison 3G, Iridium, Inmarsat, FLAG Telecom and Interoute Communications.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Baxter worked for Alvarez & Marsal Taxand*, where he served as Head of the Global Indirect Tax Service Line since 2009. Prior to this, he helped build the Indirect Tax Technology and Assurance practice of Deloitte, following a four-year term as Head of the UK Indirect Tax team at Andersen.

At FTI Consulting, Baxter will be responsible for providing clients with senior counsel regarding commercial VAT solutions. “I am delighted to be joining the Tax Advisory practice at FTI Consulting.
