Steve John new Communications Director McKinsey

Last month, McKinsey & Company has hired Steve John as its new Global Communications Director. He is replacing Michael Stewart, who last year left the strategy consultancy to become the new European CEO of Edelman (one of the biggest Public Relations desks in the world). Steve John left the British healthcare organization Bupa where he spent the last five years as Director of Corporate Affairs. At Mckinsey & Company John will be responsible for external communication, public concerns, media relations, issues management and internal communication. He will also be in control of brand management, digital communications, CSR and alumni relations.

Prior to joining Bupa, John headed corporate affairs at Pepsico in the UK and Ireland and led DLA Piper's government affairs and media practice.

McKinsey's global communication leadership position was previously held by Michael Stewart, before he left the advisory office last year to join PR-specialist Edelman. During his 12 years at McKinsey where Stewart built the firm's first in-house communications operation across 50 countries. Before McKinsey, he spent 15 years as an executive with international institutions, including the Prince of Wales International Business Leaders Forum, the UN Global Compact and The Centre for Our Common Future.
