M&A advisory Carlsquare appoints Jamie Edge as partner

International M&A advisory firm Carlsquare is strengthening its presence in the UK with the appointment of Jamie Edge as partner. His arrival from EY-Parthenon will also boost the firm’s expertise in the education and training deals.

With around 50 private-equity-sponsored transactions each year, Carlsquare is one of Europe’s most active M&A advisers. The partner-led firm specialises in technology and growth companies and employs more than 180 people across 12 offices in Europe and North America. Its London team comprises around 25 investment professionals, with the office having recently added senior sector expertise across software and technology services, debt advisory and industrial technology.

Continuing this growth, Jamie Edge joins Carlsquare to build on Carlsquare’s growing activity in education and related sectors, including Reducate’s acquisition of GOING PUBLIC! and Edukatus Alliance AB’s sale of Astar AB. He will work closely with Partner Sebastian Fischer in Munich, and the wider Carlsquare team across the firm’s international network.

Edge said of his new role, “The vast majority of education deals happen in the mid-market, Carlsquare’s sweet spot. Deal volumes in EdTech have grown for more than a decade, with innovation sustaining investor demand despite macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainty. I look forward to joining Carlsquare, supporting EdTech founders and helping drive cross-border transactions in this increasingly attractive market.”

He brings 20 years of M&A experience and has advised on more than 70 transactions, including around 50 in education, training and education technology. Edge joins from EY-Parthenon, where he was a partner in the M&A practice and led the firm’s global education and training M&A activity.

CEO Michael Moritz concluded, “Jamie’s appointment strengthens our education and training offering and supports the continued growth of our London practice. As a UK native with deep knowledge of the local market, he will help us build further relationships with UK companies while supporting international clients pursuing opportunities in the sector.”
