RSM helps secure the sale of Huddersfield-based MTE Heat Treatment
MTE Heat Treatment has been sold out of administration, securing the company’s remaining jobs. Lee Lockwood and Gareth Harris of RSM served as the joint administrators.
Based in Huddersfield, MTE Heat Treatment is an established provider of precision engineering services, including heat treatment, induction hardening, gear cutting and surface treatments. It operates from a 30,000 square feet facility at Spa Fields Industrial Estate, Slaithwaite.
MTE reported turnover of £2.8 million for 2025, down 21% from £3.6 million in 2024 – and the firm suffered cash flow pressures in recent years. Increased debt levels resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic, and the legacy of a historic fire eventually led to the appointment of administrators.
A team from RSM were appointed to oversee the sale of the firm’s assets. Lee Lockwood, Sam Thompson, Oliver Anderson and Oscar Stamper from RSM were supported by Emma Sadler and Conor McDermott of Addleshaw Goddard, and completed a quick transfer to Metal Treatment and Engineering – a Time To Act subsidiary.
The deal safeguards more than 30 jobs, while ensuring continuity for customers of MTE.
Lockwood commented, “We are pleased to have secured a sale of MTE Heat Treatment, preserving employment for over 30 staff and providing a platform for the business to continue under new ownership. The transaction also ensures ongoing service continuity for customers. We wish the business and its employees every success going forward.”
