Ben Johnson joins Ankura in risk advisory practice

Ben Johnson has joined Ankura as a senior managing director. He joins the global risk advisory practice, based in London.

Ankura Consulting is a business advisory firm, whose 2,000 staff provide management consulting and expert services to businesses. Since 2022 it has been backed by private equity group Madison Dearborn Partners.

Johnson arrives as the firm looks to strengthen its risk advisory offering. As a forensic accountant with 25 years of experience, Johnson has honed skills in advising clients on complex matters involving fraud, financial misstatement, financial crime, and bribery and corruption, particularly in high stakes disputes and investigations.

He joins from Berkeley Research Group, where he spent the last decade as a managing director in the global investigations and strategic intelligence team. In that role he was responsible for leading forensic accounting assignments on behalf of a range of clients, including regulators, law firms and corporates. Previously, he also held positions with AlixPartners, FTI Consulting, and KPMG.

Throughout that experience, Johnson has led major investigations worldwide for regulators, enforcement agencies, and private clients, and regularly acts as an expert witness in international arbitration, courts, and regulatory proceedings. He has worked across all sectors, including high-profile sports disputes.

Commenting on his appointment via LinkedIn, Johnson noted, “Difficult to avoid the words delighted and excited here, but I am certainly both to be joining the team at Ankura. Very much looking forward to the coming weeks getting to know new colleagues and clients and catching up with old friends.”
