BDO promotes almost 2,000 people in end of year development cycle
In its annual end of year performance development cycle, BDO has promoted almost 2,000 staff across its 18 UK offices. Over half of the promotions are in regions outside of London.
BDO’s global network provides business advisory services in 166 countries and territories, with more than 119,000 people working out of 1,800 offices worldwide, and revenues of $15 billion. In the UK, this includes a member firm spread across 18 offices, employing 8,000 people, and with revenues of £1 billion. Celebrating another year of hard work and growth, BDO’s UK wing has announced the promotion of almost 2,000 of its people.
Mark Shaw, managing partner at BDO, commented, “Investing in our people and recognising the talent in our organisation is incredibly important to us and I’d like to extend my congratulations to each person who has been promoted.”
Among the promotions are 24 newly appointed partners across BDO’s audit, tax, consulting, risk and outsourcing, deals, and central operations business areas. Of this cohort, just under a third are based in regions outside of London and over 40% are women, supporting BDO’s commitment of achieving a partnership made up of 30% women by the end of 2030 – as a signatory of the HM Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter.
The partners include five in BDO’s audit practice: Rachel Brittain, Robert Conner, Lauren Harrison, Chris Johnson and Rupert Livingstone. In consulting, risk and outsourcing, Oivind Andresen, Christopher Beveridge, Bennie Steenkamp and Ross Swan have all become partners. Meanwhile in deals, the partners were Helena Cartmell, Gemma Flanagan, Jeff Gardner, Matthew Savage and David Wentholt.
Ece Akser, Laura Burton, Gareth Hill, John Middlemass, Kristi Middleton, Natasha Patel and Kamay Shipp joined BDO’s tax team as newly promoted partners. And BDO’s central operations business area sees three new partners across its governance team, IT department and ethics, quality and risk team: Catherine Kewish, Nik Miller and Rupak Vasishta have all received promotions.
Effective from the start of November 2025, the partner promotions follow the appointment of 16 new external partners since January, taking BDO’s partnership to more than 500.
Shaw added, “Each of our newly promoted partners should be commended on their commitment to supporting the businesses we work with, finding solutions to challenges and driving the growth of our clients and of BDO. Our strength as a business comes from the impact our people deliver to their clients, to the communities we operate in, to our planet, and always through a lens of good governance. I look forward to seeing the careers of our people continue to develop and grow.”
