How Leading Resolutions delivered MCA-nominated support to EACTS
UK technology consultancy Leading Resolutions is among the finalists of the Management Consultancies Association Awards for 2025. Ahead of the ceremony, the firm – shortlisted for the Social Value category for its work with the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery – explores the impact of the work they undertook.
Acting as the voice of the consulting industry and representing the UK’s leading management consultancy firms for more than six decades, the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) has more than 80 members, making up over 60% of the UK’s £20 billion consulting industry. Each year, the organisation hosts the MCA Awards, which has become one of the key highlights of the UK consulting industry calendar.
On the 10th of November 2025, hundreds of professionals, industry experts and clients will gather in London to celebrate the best of the UK consulting industry. Over the summer, 50 firms and 85 individuals have been interviewed by an independent panel of experts to pick the winners. Among them, experts from Leading Resolutions.
Demonstrating the value of consulting to both the public and private sectors and its impact on society, Leading Resolutions was nominated by the MCA for its Social Value category. The selected project was a pivotal transformation for the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS), which saw the firm work with internationally renowned cardiothoracic surgeons to break down barriers and raised the benchmark for healthcare globally.
Pete Smyth, CEO at Leading Resolutions, stated, “I am proud that the great work of our consultancy teams has been recognised and celebrated in this year’s MCA awards. We strive for the best client service across every project we undertake, understanding core business demands and providing a tailored approach to technology consultancy.”
EACTS
Spanning Europe, EACTS is a membership body representing cardiothoracic surgeons across the continent. Leading Resolutions was challenged with rehousing its Adult Cardiac Database (ACD), transferring existing data into a unified, sophisticated digital platform for easier data access and research capabilities.
Launched in September 2024, the new online data platform is already raising the bar internationally, enabling surgeons to learn from best-in-class healthcare. It now houses over 4,000 procedures, 300 variables or medical conditions and patient characteristics and data across 20 hospitals already signed up, with more hospitals and medical bodies across Europe set to onboard.
“Without this platform of medical outcomes, there is no universal home for patient outcomes per hospital, per procedure, in existence. The only point of comparison is within each respective hospital, which dramatically narrows the parameters of insight and standards,” explained Paola Quattroni, director of quality improvement for EACTS.
She added, “The Leading Resolutions team patiently brought us together, filling the gaps where needed and ensuring efficient delivery with careful planning and coordination. This work has the potential of driving high standards for clinical practice across Europe and help cardiac surgeons make better decisions for their patients. It has been a real pleasure to work as one team to achieve this ambition.”
