Grant Thornton names Ruth Walsh as head of talent solutions
Leading business and financial adviser Grant Thornton has announced the promotion of Ruth Walsh to partner in its UK wing. She will serve as the head of talent solutions, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to investing in senior talent to drive its ambitious growth strategy.
Walsh commented, “It brings me a lot of pride to step into the role of partner and head of talent solutions at such an exciting time for Grant Thornton. Our work is all about empowering clients and their teams to develop the skills they need to succeed in the future. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the care and effort that goes into ensuring every participant is well looked after, and to watch them embrace the next stage of their career growth with pride and confidence.”
Based in London and originally from Argentina, Walsh will lead Grant Thornton’s talent solutions team, part of the consulting practice, to aid organisations across all sectors in developing future-ready workforces. Her remit includes designing and delivering innovative skills and training programmes that equip teams with the expertise they need to thrive in a fast-changing business environment.
With her promotion, her remit will see her also work closely with colleagues, academic partners, industry collaborators, and clients to harness the latest technology and insights, creating bespoke programmes that address evolving skills needs. With the apprenticeships and skills landscape shifting rapidly over the past 18 months, she will continue to champion creative, impactful solutions that deliver measurable results.
Will McWilliams, UK head of consulting at Grant Thornton, added, “Ruth’s promotion to partner is testament to her outstanding leadership and the tangible impact she’s had on our clients. Her vision and dedication to helping organisations develop future skills has been instrumental in driving innovative solutions that deliver real results. We’re excited to see her continue to shape our Talent Solutions offering on a national scale as she continues to inspire the next generation of leaders.”
Walsh is also an executive coach, accredited with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), and will build on this expertise to expand Grant Thornton’s suite of talent programmes. Under her leadership, the Talent Solutions team will continue to cultivate long-standing partnerships with universities and training providers, enabling the delivery of innovative, participant-focused learning experiences.
The move comes as graduate hires and the talent and recruitment landscape shift rapidly across the UK. Amid tightening economic conditions, the number of entry roles is shrinking throughout the economy – something which many bosses also attribute to their implementation of AI technologies.
