Chris Thoms and Mark Hewett named directors at BFY Group
Utility consultancy BFY Group has expanded its leadership team with the appointment of Mark Hewett as director and Chris Thoms as client director. Both are former Capgemini experts, who bring deep expertise in driving major transformation projects in the UK’s energy and utilities sectors, to lead BFY’s networks team.

Founded in 2004, BFY works with 75% of the UK’s energy retail market, combining sector-leading expertise with a practical, partnership-driven approach. In 2025, BFY transitioned to employee-ownership, and were recognised as Europe’s fastest-growing management consultancy by the Financial Times.
The appointments come as BFY strengthens its focus on helping energy networks adapt, improve and deliver in the face of rapid change. Regulatory pressure, the urgency of decarbonisation, rising customer expectations, and the need to modernise ageing infrastructure are reshaping the sector.
Mark Hewett joins BFY after a successful career in consulting, most recently serving as Vice President and Energy Networks Portfolio Lead at Capgemini UK. With over 30 years’ leadership experience, including nearly two decades as a British Army Officer, Mark specialises in energy transition, transformational change management, and designing and delivering complex programmes.

Chris Thoms meanwhile joins BFY from his most recent role as director at Capgemini Invent, bringing over 20 years of leadership experience across consulting and operational roles, including service as a military engineer in the British Army. He works with clients to translate strategy into well-structured change initiatives, optimise portfolios for maximum impact and lead large-scale transformation programmes.
