Boutique consultancy Project One has launched a new episode of its inhouse podcast. This time, Leigh Adams guests to help demystify the potential of AI in business change, and the importance of human talent as part of that process.

Project One’s Transformation Talks podcast is dedicated to highlighting the strategies, stories and insights that help business leaders navigate complex change and transformation with confidence. Available across all leading podcast platforms, the monthly show will cover a new topic each month.

The latest episode of the podcast sees host Hayley Saich joined by Leigh Adams. The change management expert discusses the important distinctions to be made, when applying AI during a business transformation.

Adams notes, “AI is the massive buzzword in the market at the moment. There is a lot of confusion about what it actually means, though. Because personally there are many things people can use AI for in their lives, but from a wider perspective it is also used as a blanket term for big data, intelligence, automation and robots. And in regards to change management, it is still impacted in regards to knowledge, information and data.”

This can mean that people and businesses mistake AI for being a cure-all. They may even believe it can be a replacement for human talent all together. But according to Adams, it is important that firms retain perspective when it comes to the human input their business requires.

When asked if it is true that you only get from AI what you put into it, he warns, “The data source only means something to the person who wants that data. But you need someone to know what they are researching, what they are looking for, looking to construct, and what they want in the end.”

The episode also goes on to explore the matter of accountability, and who should be tasked with identifying where AI can drive efficiencies in an organisation. And it touches on ways to ensure that the technology – which remains prone to errors, as well as data breaches – is being used both responsibly and effectively.
