James Cavanagh and Mike Hallet become directors at CIL

CIL Management Consultants has confirmed the promotion of two directors. The international growth strategy firm has elevated James Cavanagh and Mike Hallett within its business services and technology practices.

Jon Whiteman, managing partner at CIL, commented, "The promotion of Mike and James to Director reflects their deep sector knowledge, excellent client work, and their contribution to the growth of our business."

James Cavanagh becomes a director in CIL’s business services practice having returned to the fold in 2023. He first joined the firm in 2017, but left in 2021 to explore opportunities in private equity and a VC-backed business. During that time, he worked as an associate director with Board Intelligence. On his return to CIL, he brought back a wealth of experience, including deep subsector expertise, particularly in property and energy broking, and has led numerous successful projects in these areas.

Mike Hallett meanwhile achieves the same rank in CIL’s technology practice. He has worked on more than tech businesses in the decade he has been with CIL, developing a strong capability across the sector with a speciality in communications services and enterprise software. Prior to his time with CIL, he worked for two years with Bakkavor, where he was a quality improvement technologist; and also spent time with Nestle, where he was an availability project coordinator.

Whiteman added, "Both James and Mike will play a key role in helping CIL continue to expand internationally and provide market-leading advice to our clients."

The promotions come as the firm continues to build momentum in 2025, strengthening its expertise across key sectors. Recently this saw Matt Symonds join CIL as chair, while Tom Stevens was named partner in its business services team.
