Grant Thornton has promoted Jarred Erceg and Russell Simpson to partner in its Restructuring & Insolvency practice. Both focus on engagements in the financial services industry.
Jarred Erceg is a qualified insolvency practitioner with over 15 years of experience delivering restructuring advisory services in both Australia and the United Kingdom. He works closely with corporates, capital providers and other stakeholders to support financial services clients facing complex and distressed situations.
On his appointment, Erceg said: “It’s been an incredible journey with the firm, beginning as a graduate with Grant Thornton in Australia, followed by a stint with the firm in Hong Kong, before joining the UK business in 2018. I’m excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to working with my fellow partners and team to drive our firm’s success and deliver for our clients.”
As a Partner, Erceg will continue to lead engagements involving restructuring and turnaround strategies, contingency and wind down planning, and formal insolvency appointments. He will also support the development of the national team and drive market engagement with clients and stakeholders.
Russell Simpson has been with Grant Thornton for 19 years. “After all this time with this amazing firm, it’s hard to put into words how proud I am to reach this milestone in my career. I am immensely grateful for the support from my colleagues, family, mentors, and clients who have been with me every step of the way. I am excited for the challenges ahead and look forward to continuing to contribute to our firm’s success and the success of our clients.”
Simpson is a licensed insolvency practitioner and an experienced restructuring advisor. He has led several high-profile appointments, including acting as Joint Administrator and Joint Special Administrator in complex financial services cases. His experience is further enhanced by secondments in distressed lending and special situations, where he supported complex restructuring mandates and stakeholder engagement.
In his new role, Russell will continue to support clients across the financial services sector, with a particular focus on banks, lenders, digital assets, and wider market stakeholders including regulators, lawyers and government bodies.
Commenting on the promotions, Chris Laverty, Partner and Head of Financial Services Restructuring & Insolvency at Grant Thornton, said: “I’m delighted to see both Jarred and Russell step into partner roles – an achievement that reflects their outstanding leadership, technical expertise and dedication to client outcomes.”
The appointments come shortly after Grant Thornton was ranked as one of the leading restructuring consultancies by Consultancy.uk. The firm was also named Restructuring & Turnaround Firm of the Year at the 2025 ACQ5 Annual Gamechanger Awards.
