PwC and Microsoft extend AI Copilot collaboration

Microsoft has announced a strategic collaboration with PwC. The deal will allow the Big Four firm to bring the latest Copilot Agents to its clients.

As they look to improve on an extended slowdown, the Big Four professional services have prioritised AI work, as clients look to get to grips with the technology. With PwC having observed a skills gap when it came to the AI tools they deployed, the company has subsequently invested heavily in it over the last three years.

All in all, PwC is understood to have sunk $1 billion into expanding its AI capabilities since the much-heralded public launch of ChatGPT in 2022. Among the tools it has helped to deploy since then are its own version of ChatGPT, named ChatPwC, and Microsoft Copilot – a generative AI chatbot developed by the technology giant.

As PwC and Microsoft look to strengthen this relationship, they have agreed to a new strategic collaboration, aimed at transforming industries with the power of AI agents. This collaboration will provide businesses with the tools needed to scale to role-specific and area-wide scenarios through tailored AI-driven use cases and advance to fully autonomous agents embedded within their enterprise ecosystems.

Stephanie Mosticchio, global Microsoft alliance leader, PwC US, commented, "As one of the largest Microsoft 365 Copilot customers globally, PwC has over 120,000 Copilot licenses enabled and deployed across our firm. This achievement is underlined by our recognition as the Microsoft 2024 Global Partner of the Year for Building with AI. Copilot is not just a tool – but a platform for end-to-end transformation and to enable clients to get impactful products and offerings to market quicker and at a fraction of the cost. This is why we are excited to collaborate with Microsoft to share the power of agentic AI with our broad client base."

Stephen Boyle, GSI leader at Microsoft, added, "Our collaboration with PwC underscores our commitment to provide transformative solutions that will enable growth and deliver lasting value for customers. Using the innovative potential of Copilot, and autonomous agent capabilities, we can help customers accelerate AI transformation across industries, to help organizations achieve successful business outcomes.”
