Zscaler and Cognizant collaborate to bring AI-enabled security to clients

Global consulting firm Cognizant has continued its push into the field of AI services, with a new partnership to simplify security for its clients. By partnering with Zscaler, the firm will help offer access to an AI-enabled zero trust cloud security platform.

Launched in 2007, Zscaler is a US-headquartered cloud security company. The firm offers cloud-based services to protect enterprise networks and data, and since 2023, has maintained its Zero Trust Exchange platform, which features cyberthreat protection, data protection, zero trust connectivity, and business analytics services.

According to a release from Cognizant, partnering with Zscaler can help address an important chink in the armour of its clients. Legacy network security solutions often fail to provide true zero trust, Cognizant suggests, and this can increase risk of attackers gaining access to corporate networks.

Importantly, Cognizant’s expanded partnership with Zscaler will help enterprises across industries simplify and transform their security posture with an advanced, AI-enabled zero trust cloud security platform to address evolving cyber threats. Under the expanded partnership, Cognizant and Zscaler will offer coordinated solutions and services designed to reduce overall security complexity, maximise security posture, and deliver comprehensive, cost-effective outcomes rapidly and at scale.

“Increasing operational costs, skill shortages, and evolving cyber threats continue to be significant challenges for enterprises, CxOs, and corporate boards,” said Ravi Kumar S, CEO, Cognizant. “Generative AI adds new dimensions to the scale and complexity of securing modern applications used by a technology-native workforce eager to unlock the value of unclassified, unvetted data. Together, Cognizant and Zscaler are committed to providing cutting-edge, AI-enabled and cost-effective solutions that help clients stay ahead of the threat curve.”

The move is the latest in a string of AI-related announcements from Cognizant. In 2024, the consultancy commenced work with AI chip-magnate Nvidia to help modernise its cloud and data offerings, while it also launched generative service Cognizant WorkNext to help clients adopt new technology in their operations.

Looking ahead, this expertise can also help Zscaler to onboard new clients. The hope is now that Zscaler’s Zero Trust Exchange, implemented by Cognizant, will help clients address growing security challenges effectively.

“We are excited to not only welcome Cognizant as a new Zscaler customer but also deepen our collaboration to help enterprises accelerate their Zero Trust security initiatives,” added Jay Chaudhry, founder and CEO of Zscaler. “Legacy perimeter-based security solutions are not designed to deliver true zero trust, which can allow bad actors to infiltrate corporate networks and move laterally undetected while compromising sensitive data. Together, we aim to dramatically reduce business risk for our joint customers and provide a comprehensive security solutions that address the needs of the highly mobile workforce and cloud-first enterprises as they continue their business transformation.”
