The Chartered Management Consultant award is celebrating another year of solid growth. The number of firms to have become ChMC accredited has grown by 30% in 2024, taking the total to more than 30.

Launched as a joint initiative by the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), the Chartered Management Consultant (ChMC)is rapidly gaining traction among the leading UK consultancies, particularly small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs). Seeing it as an opportunity to demonstrate a level of quality control previously absent from the UK consulting industry, thousands of professionals have already transitioned through the course to obtain chartered status.

Now, a release from the MCA has stated that the ChMC has grown further, with seven firms becoming accredited – helping with the adoption of the ChMC throughout the industry. With the total of accredited firms hitting 36, the news also highlights the broader impact of the award in helping to standardise the sector – as seven of the firms are not MCA members.

Ann Francke, Chief Executive Officer at CMI, said, "The ChMC represents a significant milestone in the professionalisation of management consulting. We are delighted to see so many firms embracing accreditation and demonstrating their commitment to excellence. The CMI is dedicated to supporting the ongoing development of the ChMC framework and ensuring its continued relevance and impact."

Recent findings from the CMI reveal that nine-out-of-ten consultants agree that being a chartered management consultant: recognises their proven track record in management consulting. The same number also believe it demonstrates their commitment to their personal and professional development, and allows them to demonstrate a level of excellence and credibility to their clients.

Tamzen Isacsson, Chief Executive Officer at MCA added, "The number of chartered consultants has already grown 30% this year, a big increase on last year’s tremendous uptake and it’s encouraging to see so many firms securing programme accreditation. ChMC is a win-win for clients, individuals and consultancy firms and is setting the highest standards of consulting services for the industry.”
