BDO renovates Southampton locale
BDO is making a major investment in its Southampton office. The accountancy and business advisory firm is renovating the space following impressive growth across its organisation.
Steve Le Bas, regional managing partner at BDO in Southampton, said, "BDO is firmly committed to the local market and has made a real statement of intent through our investment in new offices.”
The professional services firm has left its old office in Arcadia House on Maritime Walk, to temporary offices at Basepoint Business Centre, while the multimillion-renovation project is carried out. The project is occurring in conjunction with the landlord Forelle Estates, while completion is expected before the end of the year.
The newly refurbished office will be designed to provide BDO with “modern, collaborative” working spaces, with technology to support the firm’s approach to agile working. Employees will also be encouraged to work from a mixture of the office, home or the sites of the businesses they work with, dependent on the task in hand.
Le Bas added, "This ambitious infrastructure project will provide the foundations for us to continue investing in the region – not only by creating jobs over the medium and long-term, but by allowing us to support ambitious, growing businesses across all corners of the region."
The potential Grade A offices, based at Arcadia House on Maritime Walk, provide 17,000 square feet of commercial space. As a result, BDO has signed a new long-term 15 year lease.
BDO’s revenue increased 16% over the 2022/23 financial year, as revenue soared to £935 million across all “areas of the business”. The latest reports published by the firm state that its operating profits grew by 5% to £198 million, even though it now employs 7,500 people, up from 7,000 last year.
