Northdoor appoints James Cherry as new CEO

London-based IT consultancy Northdoor has announced the appointment of its new CEO. James Cherry will step into the shoes of David Ballard, who had held the role since 1995.

Founded in 1989, Northdoor is an IT consultancy specialising in data solutions. For the past 29 years, it has been led by David Ballard, but as of July 1st, he has stepped into a new role of Deputy CEO. While he will remain with the business, helping to execute several key initiatives throughout 2024 and beyond, he will help his successor to become acquainted with the role.

James Cherry has been at Northdoor for nearly 20 years having joined the business as consultant and head of technology in 2005. A decade later he had been promoted to chief technology officer before taking on the deputy chief executive officer role.

Speaking after finally ascending to the top job, Cherry noted, “I am honoured and excited to announce that I am stepping into the role of Chief Executive Officer at Northdoor. This is both a privilege and a responsibility that I embrace with great enthusiasm and commitment. Throughout my time here, I have gained invaluable insights and knowledge from both our current team and the incredible colleagues and friends who have since moved on to new challenges. All have played a crucial role in shaping my journey and the success of Northdoor.”

Looking ahead, Cherry added that he was “excited by the opportunities” in front of the consultancy. In particular, he aims to help the firm to “continue to innovate, grow, and build on the strong foundations” Northdoor has established. 

He concluded, “I look forward to working closely with our dedicated employees, valued customers, and trusted partners as we embark on this next stage of our journey together.”

Additionally, Northdoor announced the appointment of Priyavadan Bhudia as director of insurance solutions. He will work closely with Ian Diaper who leads the applications and consultancy team.
