Stuart Barker has joined the UK wing of Slalom as its first director for technology enablement and advisory work. He will assist clients to evolve their technological transformations, amid a time of economic uncertainty in the British marketplace.

Headquartered in the US, international business and technology consultancy Slalom was founded in 2001, but first arrived in the UK in 2014. Since its launch in London, the firm has added another locale in Manchester – hosting around 500 staff in the two offices.

As Slalom looks to expand its UK wing in its 10th anniversary year, it has established a new role, to grow its technology enablement capability and team to assist clients in their technology strategy, roadmaps and solutions. Joining the firm as its first Senior Director in Technology Enablement and Advisory, Stuart Baker brings more than 25 years of experience to the role.

Slalom London General Manager, Todd Sink, commented, “Stuart’s energy and positivity makes him an excellent addition to the Slalom London team. Having worked both as a consultant and as an internal IT director, he is fiercely empathetic to the needs of the organisations we love to support. We are delighted to have Stuart with us at Slalom and seeing the positive impact he will have on both our team and clients.”

Prior to joining Slalom, Barker held consulting leadership roles at AND Digital and PA Consulting. During his career, he has also led strategic projects with C-level clients of multinationals such as Kingfisher/B&Q, Homechoice, Berry Bros & Rudd and RS Group.

Looking ahead in his new role, Barker will be working with organisations across multiple industries. His breadth of experience will help executives to explore their technology evolution options in line with their business goals, whatever stage of their digital transformation journey they are at.

Speaking on his appointment, Barker added, “The reality is that some organisations are still only on the initial steps of their digital transformation, our role is to help them work out their optimal route to a brighter future – one that closely aligns to their strategic business priorities. For those more mature organisations, technology is constantly evolving, and so should how they explore their options – from bringing new customer experiences that increase customer satisfaction and retention, to identifying how AI will impact the future of work, the journey is a continuous one.”
