As Alba Partners looks to grow its new Edinburgh office, it has appointed a trio of senior experts. Andy Boyes, Charles Churchill and Mark Thundercliffe will help to add strength and depth to the firm’s expanding Scottish wing.

Founded in 2020 by Scottish siblings Richard and Carol Jacobs, Abla Partners is a boutique consultancy based in the UK. Working in a niche of offering “Big Four quality consulting” priced for mid-market and smaller clients, it has won various projects across Britain’s financial services sector – and also established a growing hub in the UAE, and extending into Saudi Arabia.

As it ramps up investment across Scotland, the firm has recently relocated its headquarters to Edinburgh – and a new office which aims to recruit over 20 professionals in the next two years. Following up on this commitment to growth, the firm has announced three such appointments in Edinburgh, adding three senior members to its team.

Andy Boyes has joined the firm as a managing director at Alba Partners, with specific responsibility for its Scottish business. He was previously a partner with consulting firm Wavestone, and brings more than 34 years of experience in leading strategic business and digital transformation in senior consulting and line organisation roles.

CharlesChurchill meanwhile arrives at Alba Partners’ financial services practice, following more than 17 years in consultancy and leadership roles. He is described as having a proven track record in delivery governance, managing complex projects across top-tier investment banks – having been a senior consultant with BCS Consulting – as well as retail banking, and was previously a programme manager for strategic change at Credit Suisse.

Mark Thundercliffe has also joined as senior advisor with a focus on Alba Partners’ financial services practice. He arrives having formerly served as chief risk officer with HSBC and Virgin Money, and group senior advisor for Bank South Pacific, while he also holds several non-executive board roles with UK financial firms.

Speaking on the appointments, Alba Partners Managing Director Richard Jacobs said, “The trio will add significant depth and experience to our Scottish and UK business. We are set to grow our business throughout 2024 and, from our global headquarters in Edinburgh, look forward to providing unrivalled support to clients across Scotland’s vibrant energy, financial, and public sectors.”
