Michael Knott promoted to managing partner for Roland Berger UK

Strategy firm Roland Berger has announced a reshuffle of its UK senior team. Michael Knott steps into top spot of managing partner, bringing 30 years of consulting experience to the role.

Roland Berger is a European-origin consultancy with a strong international footprint. The strategy-focused firm operates 51 offices in all major markets, with 3,000 global employees.

For the last five years, Roland Berger’s UK wing has been led by former Kearney and EY-Parthenon partner Philip Dunne. However, as the firm looks to build for a busy 2024, it has announced the appointment of a new national leader.

Knott said of his appointment, “We have tremendous opportunity to build our UK business in line with our global growth strategy. We are continuing to expand in the industries in which we operate, by leveraging our global network of experts to deliver top tier service and strategies to our clients. I am looking forward leading our team through 2024 and beyond.”

Knott joined Roland Berger in 2022 with more than three decades in consulting. This included 15 years with Accenture, where he was latterly a partner, a spell at Booz & Company in the same role, and 10 years as head of TMT at FTI Consulting. At Roland Berger, Knott has previously led the firm’s TMT practice, working across strategy, M&A, value creation and decarbonisation strategies. 

On succeeding Dunne in the role, Knott added, “I would like to thank Phil for navigating our UK business after joining Roland Berger just before the pandemic. We wish him all the best for the future.”

Dunne also headed up Roland Berger’s UK automotive wing. Roland Berger’s UK practice operates across telecommunications, media and technology, consumer goods and retail, aerospace and defence, energy and infrastructure, automotive, RPT and investor support.
