CGI joins MOD digital and IT framework

20 December 2023 Consultancy.uk

The Ministry of Defence has selected CGI for a new framework to support its digitalisation drive. The consultancy will help accelerate the delivery of various Defence Digital projects in the UK.

CGI delivers an end-to-end portfolio of capabilities, from strategic IT and business consulting to systems integration, managed IT and business process services and intellectual property solutions. With 77,000 consultants and other professionals across the globe, the firm has been delivering such services to the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) for over 40 years.

Amid the challenges of the current decade, this relationship has flourished further, with CGI supporting the MOD with intelligence innovation drives of all kinds. For example, in 2021, CGI provided IT support for the roll out of coronavirus vaccinations for service personnel – as well as developing a single, all-domain Intelligence Mission Management System that is fully integrated across the UK. Meanwhile, 2022 saw CGI partnering with the MOD in a 23-month contract which is central to the UK’s geospatial intelligence capacity.

CGI joins MOD digital and IT framework

Now, CGI has been named as a supplier of the MOD’s digital and IT professional services (DIPS) framework. The DIPS framework will run for four years and deliver various digital and IT specialist professional services to Defence Digital. The deal will see CGI and its partners augment MOD project teams and help accelerate delivery and quality assurance for a range of current and planned Defence Digital projects.

Paul March, vice president of consulting services for CGI’s defence intelligence solutions wing in the UK and Australia, said, “CGI is pleased to be named as a supplier on the MOD DIPS framework via a competitive selection process. We have a long track record in providing specialist technical expertise and professional services to the MOD, with sustained positive client feedback on the quality of our services. We look forward to expanding our relationship with MOD Defence Digital via DIPS, to deliver enhanced digital and IT capability and positive outcomes to the MOD.”

CGI takes its place on the DIPS’ Lot 2: Dev, Apps, UX, Dev Ops, Sys Design & App Support and DIPS Lot 6: Intelligence Solutions. CGI will lead a diverse team comprising of best-in-class partner companies to provide a full range of expert capability, niche skills and resource capacity.

The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) assisted MOD in the production of the DIPS framework and will become the framework authority upon go live, with MOD responsible for all customer engagement. As an executive agency, sponsored by the Cabinet Office, the CCS brings together policy, advice and direct buying; providing commercial services to the public sector and saving money for the taxpayer. In 2022/23, this saw the CCS help the public sector to achieve commercial benefits equal to £3.8 billion.
