BDO strengthens financial services team with two partner hires
Audit and advisory firm BDO has strengthened its financial services team with two new partners. James Billingham and Tim Lawrence join the firm in its London office.
Neil Fung-On, head of financial services at BDO, said, “The financial services industry continues to witness rapid change, with an expanding banking regulatory landscape where new entrants apply innovative technologies. James and Tim’s appointments are a key part of our ongoing strategic investment in the financial services team, ensuring we have the skills, experience, and capacity to deliver quality audits.”
BDO operates out of 18 locations across the UK, with approximately 7,000 people. It covers all of the major business centres while offering local expertise to local firms – including the financial services team, which specialises in advising investment and wealth managers, capital markets firms, FinTech firms and other clients regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
James Billingham joins the firm with two decades of experience in the audit of entities within the financial services sector. He will operate as a partner from the firm’s London office, joining from EY, where he was most recently an associate partner.
Tim Lawrence also joins the London office as a partner. Prior to arriving at BDO, he spent more than a decade at PwC in the US and UK – where he was latterly a director in its auditing wing. Along with Billingham, he will now focus on the audit of banking, alternative finance, and related entities for BDO.
Speaking on his exit from PwC via LinkedIn, Lawrence commented, “After 6,283 days, the time has finally come for me to bid PwC farewell. Thank you for everything. It has been an honour and a privilege to be a part of so many extraordinary teams.”
