ERM launches new visual identity to reflect evolution

As sustainability advisory ERM continues to grow its profile and revenues, the firm has opted to redesign its corporate identity. A new green logo reflects the firm’s “strategic” and “technical” competencies, as well as its “digital-first” approach, according to CEO Tom Reichert.

ERM is the world’s largest independent pure play sustainability consultancy. The firm has been expanding at pace, accelerated by a buy-and-build strategy that saw over 20 acquisitions join its ranks since 2010, and now boasts a global team of more than 8,000 experts in over 170 offices across 39 countries.

The consultancy has also been enjoying booming financial results over that period – with demand in sustainability advisory services rising rapidly amid the global economy’s efforts to decarbonise.

ERM launches new visual identity to reflect evolution

In 2020, ERM surpassed global revenues of $1 billion for the first time – while the 2023 financial year was another year of “unprecedented growth” – which again saw revenues soar above the billion-mark.

To reflect the firm’s enhanced capabilities, and its bullish financial outlook, ERM’s leadership has decided the time is right to refresh its brand identity. Designed to build on consultancy’s half-century of heritage in the sustainability space, a release from the firm states that the new set of images highlights “the central role of nature in ERM’s future and capturing the economic and societal transformation now needed”.

ERM Group CEO Tom Reichert said, “We have evolved over the years as we seek new ways to help organisations tackle their sustainability challenges. And today marks an exciting step as we unveil a refreshed brand that captures ERM’s renewed energy and capabilities.”

The new branding includes a new logo, which features lines within two concentric circles. According to Reichert, the green shape indicates both macro and micro perspectives “combining strategic transformation and technical delivery” – highlighting the importance of embedding sustainability across every aspect of business. At the same time, the imagery provides a “digital-first look and feel” to represent how ERM is trying to leverage technology in support of clients’ sustainability goals.

Reichert concluded, “ERM’s original brand had its foundations in science and nature. Our refreshed brand builds on this rich heritage and the central role of nature in our future through the continued use of a spiral. It also captures the economic and societal transformation now needed, which we are passionate about helping to drive. Together, we are more energised than ever about helping to build a sustainable future for generations to come.”

Earlier in 2023, the rising profile of ERM was further underlined by Verdantix, which named the firm as a ‘leader’ in the climate change consulting landscape.

ERM was also listed in Consultancy.uk’s 2023 top consulting firm rankings. The firm was given a platinum rating in the ESG category, and a diamond rating in sustainability.
