Simon Pierce joins Meinhardt as director
Engineering consultancy Meinhardt has welcomed Simon Pierce to its London office. Joining as a director, Pierce will specialise in helping deliver façade projects to its UK clients.
Launched over 65 years ago, Meinhardt is a global advisory firm whose clients include developers, construction companies, government agencies, multinational corporations and NGOs. The firm’s 5,000-strong global team work across 51 offices to deliver projects around the world.
In the UK, Meinhardt has delivered façade engineering services – advising on the design of the front of buildings while resolving aesthetic, environmental and structural issues – on behalf of a strong portfolio of national and international clients. Notable projects include; 145 City Road, a 39-storey residential tower and a 10-storey office building in London; and the One Limassol tower, a 38-storey, high rise apartment building in Cyprus.
As Meinhardt looks to meet growing demand for these services, Simon Pierce brings 20 years of engineering consulting experience to its façade team. As director in the practice, Pierce will support leading architects and designers, supplying his extensive knowledge of traditional and novel materials and construction methods, complementing the Meinhardt team’s own experience in façade engineering.
Meinhardt UK Managing Director David Sharp commented, “Simon is a proven leader in the UK and internationally. Their expertise and commitment to improving social and environmental outcomes through engineering will be transformative for our business. We look forward to working with Simon and supporting them in leading and growing our talented team of façade engineering specialists.”
Prior to joining Meinhardt, Pierce was director of façade engineering with Mott MacDonald, also based in London. Over his career, he has provided services to some of the city’s most recognisable projects, from the culturally sensitive retrofit projects of Smithson’s Plaza with DSDHA, to the large-scale Stamford Bridge Stadium redevelopment with Herzog & De Meuron.
Speaking on his new challenge, Pierce said, “I am hugely excited to have joined Meinhardt. I was drawn to the company’s broad and deep expertise as a multi-disciplinary consultancy, balancing a flexible business approach with extensive global outreach and scale. Meinhardt has invested in developing its outstanding façade team for many years, and I very much look forward to building on that legacy. I am bringing my own combination of engineering pragmatism and design sensitivity to the team as part of its new drive to make an even greater impact on the world of façade engineering.”
