Silvia Rindone managing partner in strategy and transactions at EY

EY has announced Silvia Rindone as its new UK and Ireland managing partner for strategy and transactions. She takes on the role from Steve Ivermee, who headed the department for the last seven years.

The strategy and transactions service line of EY enables clients to navigate complexity by reimagining their portfolios, and reinventing themselves in response to major market shifts and emerging trends. Steve Ivermee took on the role of heading up the department – then known as transaction advisory services (TAS) – in 2016.

Since then, the department has enjoyed solid results. In its latest financial year, reported in November 2022, EY’s UK wing achieved record UK revenue of over £3.2 billion. This saw it achieve strong growth across all its service lines, including its strategy and transactions wing – which enjoyed a 10% expansion of revenues.

However, it was confirmed in May 2023 that Ivermee was set to be replaced as the managing partner for EY’s strategy transactions wing in the UK and Ireland. As the firm looks to re-position itself after the collapse of its global attempt to divorce its audit and advisory businesses, he is one of a number of senior professionals to make way for new blood – though he will remain with EY as a partner within its private equity practice.

Stepping into Ivermee’s shoes as managing partner for strategy and transactions is Silvia Rindone. She is promoted to the role, having previously been EY’s strategy and transactions markets leader, and head of retail for UK and Ireland.

Hywel Ball, EY’s UK chair commented, “I’m delighted that Silvia will be taking on the role of managing partner for strategy and transactions. She has been instrumental in raising EY’s brand in the consumer products and retail sector… I’d also like to thank Steve Ivermee for his leadership over the last seven years. Under his guidance, the business has achieved fantastic results, including achieving double-digit growth for the last two years – he leaves a fantastic legacy.”

Rindone joined EY in 2019, and has since worked with leading consumer product and retail companies across Europe, and around the world. Her new role sees her lead EY’s multi-disciplinary strategy and transactions practice to advise corporate and private equity clients on all aspects of transaction advisory, including, transaction diligence, corporate finance, valuations, business modelling and economics. That also includes, EY-Parthenon, the firm’s global strategy consultancy.

Her appointment comes alongside 46 new partner appointments to the business unit. These include 23 internal promotions and 23 external hires, and form part of the 267 new UK partner appointments announced in July 2023, as EY responds to growing client demand.

Speaking on the news, Rindone added, “I’m honoured to be leading our talented strategy and transactions team and am looking forward to leading the business through the next stage of evolution and growth. Our new partner appointments reflect a significant investment in our people as we meet growing client demand for advice around strategy services, turnaround and restructuring, M&A and private equity.”
