Heather O'Gorman joins fscom payments team
Professional services firm fscom has installed a new associate director in its payments team, as it looks to grow the service line. Heather O’Gorman arrives with extensive experience in compliance consulting in particular.
Jamie Cooke, managing director of fscom said, "We are delighted to welcome Heather O'Gorman to fscom as our new Associate Director in the Payments Team. Her wealth of experience in compliance consultancy and her extensive knowledge of the payment and e-money sector make her an invaluable asset to our team. This appointment not only strengthens our ability to provide exceptional service to our clients but also aligns with our commitment to promoting gender balance and diversity within our consultancy team.”
Headquartered in Belfast with offices in London and Dublin, fscom is a governance, risk, and compliance consulting firm. Largely consisting of ex-bankers, ex-regulators, and former in-house compliance experts, the firm’s team works with major players in the payments, retail banking, investment management and trading and broking sectors. It provides governance, risk and compliance support to firms including Moneycorp, CorPay and Banking Circle.
In 2022, the Northern Ireland based consultancy set its sights on doubling in size – following an injection of funds from Bridgepoint – with the aim of expanding into new markets in the coming years. Heather O’Gorman’s arrival as an associate director in the firm’s payments team will help to meet this goal – bringing experience in interpreting the payment services and e-money regulatory obligations for the broad range of new payment models, which will help the firm to win new clients.
As clients contend with regulatory changes relating to payment, O’Gorman’s background in supporting regulated firms in the payment and e-money sectors, will help bring vital expertise to fscom’s payments team. Her previous roles have seen her particularly focus on the electronic communications exclusion, payment initiation and account information services. Previously, she spent time with a compliance consultancy, where she was the driving force in building a payments and financial crime practice focused on supporting payment and e-money institutions with their regulatory needs under the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
Alison Donnelly, director of the payments team at fscom, added, “We are confident that her knowledge and leadership skills will contribute significantly to our continued success in delivering outstanding solutions and support to our clients. I am also delighted to announce that Heather has assumed the role of director of the Association of Professional Compliance Consultants, further showcasing her unwavering dedication to the compliance advisory profession."
The Association of Professional Compliance Consultants is active in enhancing the professional standards of compliance consultants and is recognised as a trade body by the FCA and other regulators. Established for over 20 years, the organisation is the authoritative membership body for best practice guidance for compliance consultants.
