Optima Partners has appointed Martin Dowson as the firm’s managing director of consulting. He will work to drive the business’ expansion, as it aims to double in size through 2023.

“The very ethos of Optima Partners is about unlocking latent value in businesses through transformation by design, and having Martin join us as managing director for consulting is testament to the value we place on expertise in design and user experience,” said Alan Crawley, CEO and founder of Optima Partners.

“Businesses need significant shifts when it comes to making marked improvements, not tweaks around the edges, and Martin has a track record of success in business transformation at the level we provide.”

Optima bolsters growth strategy with arrival of Martin Dowson

Founded in 2013, Optima Partners is a management consultancy headquartered in Edinburgh. Working for many of the UK’s best-known businesses, the firm has offices in London and Bristol, with around 50 staff.

Since securing a multi-million-pound investment from private equity partner BGF, Optima has been looking to expand across the United Kingdom and beyond.

Dowson arrives as part of what Optima is calling “an aggressive recruitment strategy to bolster its team”. The company is on course to double headcount to more than 100 across its three UK bases by the end of 2023, and as managing director for consulting, his expertise in driving effective business transformation through design and customer experience services will help meet that goal.

Prior to joining the consultancy, Dowson led customer experience design teams in industry and the consulting sector, with organisations including Lloyds Banking Group, BT and Accenture. In that time, he has advised on design-led transformation across banking, consumer goods, energy and telecom industries.

Dowson added, “I am thrilled to be part of the team as we work to realise a visionary and ambitious year ahead. What attracted me to working with Optima Partners is the recognition that the transformation required to unlock that value must be purposefully designed using a full range of skills and capabilities that are rarely brought together so well.”

Last month, Optima was named of the UK’s leading data science consulting firms by Consultancy.org.
