Deloitte promotes Mel Wilson and Ed Britton to director

Big Four firm Deloitte has announced two senior appointments in its North West business. Mel Wilson and Ed Britton will now lead teams in the regional development advisory and planning sectors, respectively.

In the North West of England, Deloitte serves clients of all shapes and sizes. In recent years, the region has become a major technology hub for the UK, underpinned by growing talent pools in Salford, Manchester and Liverpool. To service this growing client base in the North West, Deloitte has offices in Manchester and Liverpool, staffed by around 700 dedicated professionals.

Mel Wilson joined Deloitte 15 years ago, and has since spent time in both its London and Manchester offices.

Since her promotion from associate to director, Wilson has taken leadership of Deloitte’s regional development advisory, where she oversees 15 other professionals helping to transform communities across the North West.

Ed Britton meanwhile has been with Deloitte for 13 years in total, having first arrived as a planning consultant. During his time at Deloitte, Britton has worked on various projects and aided in securing planning permission for Investec’s proposed conversion of the House of Fraser off Deansgate into offices. As a director with the firm, he will now lead Deloitte’s wider planning business in Greater Manchester.

Commenting on the news via LinkedIn, in a post with almost 300 engagements, Britton said, “Very happy to share that I’m now a Director at Deloitte. A huge thanks to all those who have supported, coached and generally shared their wisdom over the past few years!”

Last year, Deloitte agreed to move its offices from Manchester to Salford, signing a 10-year lease for a 43,000 square foot space at 100 Embankment. The plan came as part of the company’s North West growth plans, aiming to recruit 750 people over the next three years – and the two appointments will also help drive this growth.

Speaking on the promotions, Simon Bedford, lead partner for regions development at Deloitte, added, “Both Mel and Ed have been integral to our success as a business over the last few years and I am delighted they have joined our senior regional management team. Both make a massive contribution to much of our market-facing activity where they have led and delivered many outstanding projects for our clients,” he continued. “These promotions put the business in a great place to move forward over future years.”
