Lexica inks partnership with MENA-focused investment manager
Healthcare consultancy Lexica has established a long-term partnership with Elevate Private Equity. The funding platform focuses on healthcare investments in the Middle East and Africa, and its alliance with Lexica will help improve the standards and training programmes offered by its facilities.
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust has a long history stretching back over 900 years – making it one of the largest hospital trusts in the UK. In 2014, the trust founded Lexica, a multidisciplinary consultancy that enables public and private sector clients to transform their environments.
Lexica re-invests profits within the Trust it grew out of, and its team comprises of 100 experts across offices in London and Oxfordshire and staff based in Cambridge, East Anglia, Manchester, and Dublin.
As Lexica looks to build on its new lease of life, having rebranded in mid-2022, it has secured a partnership with a Middle East and Africa-based investor.
Elevate Private Equity specialises in healthcare investments across the MENA region, and its strategic alliance with Lexica aims to provide clinical consultancy services – including healthcare planning, clinical governance and clinical audits, education and training services, expert opinions and patient referrals – to future healthcare facilities it is developing.
A delegation of senior management from Lexica and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust visited Cairo to sign the joint agreement with Elevate and commence the first stages of the partnership. Speaking at the event hosted at the British Embassy in Cairo, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Managing Director of International and Specialised Services David Shrimpton said that Lexica’s support of Elevate in supporting the development of MENA healthcare systems would “build on our existing relationships in the region”.
He explained this could provide “the delivery of a word-class health service to the citizens of Egypt and beyond.”
Lexica’s Managing Director, Tina Nolan, also commented, “This is a fantastic opportunity for the teams to harness their expertise to build sustainable, high-quality healthcare systems in emerging countries, as well as offering the highest quality standards for training and education programmes.”
The event was presided over by the Egyptian Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar. This follows the signing of a letter of intent between the three parties in January 2023 at Arab Health, Dubai, supported by Mark Oakes, Head of Life Sciences (Exports) at the UK Department for Business and Trade.
British Ambassador to Egypt Gareth Bayley added, “I am delighted that Guys and St Thomas’, one of the largest hospital trusts in the United Kingdom with an internationally renowned reputation, is partnering with Elevate. This agreement will enable parties to join forces in delivering positive improvements in healthcare services across the Middle East and Africa, including here in Egypt. I also want to thank His Excellency Khaled Abdel Ghaffar for presiding over this important agreement, part of our strong and enduring partnership in the healthcare sector.”
With links to and roots in the Egyptian healthcare industry, Elevate is keen to ameliorate the lives of the communities they serve by enriching the standard of healthcare and driving financial and sustainable growth by unlocking investment opportunities that help satisfy the needs of growing populations. Its agreement with Lexica is intended to increase the quality and impact of healthcare facilities run by Elevate, as well as the overall health ecosystem in which they operate.

Lexica has been strengthening its expertise in the MENA region in recent years. Recently this saw it strengthen its team with Yasser Khan, relocating to the firm’s UK wing from the Middle East, bringing with him wide-ranging experience of advising healthcare sector clients within the Gulf Corporation Council.
