Laurie Hannant to lead BDO Nottingham office

25 April 2023 Consultancy.uk

Professional services firm BDO has announced a new Head for the firm’s Nottingham office. Laurie Hannant brings 25 years of experience to the role.

Speaking of her appointment, Hannant commented, “As someone who was born and bred in the East Midlands, I’m absolutely delighted to be taking over the reins in the Nottingham office – particularly at such an exciting time of development and growth for our team. I am hugely passionate about pursuing opportunities and supporting the success of businesses in the region and across the Midlands, and can’t wait to get stuck into the role in the coming months ahead.”

Hannant joined BDO as a Partner in 2019, arriving in the firm’s audit wing. She had previously spent extended spells at some of the industry’s biggest names, having worked as an Audit Executive at Tenon before joining EY in 2004. Her 15-year tenure at the Big Four firm saw her rise to the role of Director in its audit practice, before exiting for BDO.

Prior to her promotion, Hannant already led BDO’s consumer markets sector in the Midlands. Now, she will lead the East Midlands’ 80-strong practice, working to grow BDO’s network across the region’s business community.

Kyla Bellingall, Regional Managing Partner in the Midlands, added, “With her heart and roots in the region, and a clear focus on our people and building the BDO brand in the market, I know Laurie will relish the opportunity to lead her home region into the next chapter of growth and success. I would also like to thank Andrew Mair who has led the East Midlands office for five years. In that time, he has done a fantastic job of growing the team to over 80 people, strengthening our client base, supporting employees through a global pandemic, and leading the transition into a new hub in the centre of Nottingham.”

The appointment sees Hannant take over from the outgoing Mair. He will continue to be based in the Nottingham office, where he will carry on his role of Audit Partner, focusing on delivering high quality audits to large corporates.

The news follows BDO’s recent move to a prominent office building in the centre of Nottingham, cementing its commitment to the East Midlands market. The East Midlands hub is a high-profile city centre location, which is in close proximity to the Broadmarsh regeneration development – a green, pedestrian-friendly public space.
