ERM acquires energy and water advisory firm Coho

Pureplay sustainability consultancy ERM has acquired advisory firm Coho for an undisclosed fee. The purchased firm has a deep expertise in helping organisations reach their climate change, renewable energy and water resiliency goals.

Originally based in Washington DC, Coho has a global team of more than 50 professionals, providing climate advisory services to help clients navigate complexity and take ambitious steps on their sustainability journey. The company offers market insight, analytical problem-solving, and change management expertise, and has previously served over 60 companies, helping them contract for approximately 7 million MWhs of renewable energyannually – enough to power over 650,000 homes and drive over $5 billion of new investment in renewable energy projects.

The acquisition will provide ERM’s clients with further support to deliver their climate goals and realise the commercial opportunities presented by decarbonisation and wateroptimisation. In particular, combined with ERM’s own strategic transformation andtechnical delivery capabilities, the purchase of Coho will help clients to procure renewable energy; achieve electric vehicle transition, fuel switching, and supply chain improvements; and capture fundamental enhancements in water resiliency.

Recently, this also saw the firm purchase the Libryo platform, helping it provide an AI emissions monitoring digital solution, which draws on engineering principles andanalytics to identify hidden operational inefficiencies to help decarbonise operations andreduce emissions, energy and fuel costs.
