KPMG International names Liz Claydon Head of Global Deal Advisory
Liz Claydon has been promoted to Head of Global Deal Advisory with KPMG International. She takes on the role as the UK deal advisory team adds 21 experts to its partnership.
With more than 30 years of experience, Liz Claydon is already a Partner and Head of Deal Advisory for KPMG in the UK. Having joined the Big Four firm in 1991, Claydon initially trained in audit before moving into transaction services. In the years since, she has advised on some of the world’s largest and most complex deals, and has been the global lead partner for both GSK and Diageo.
Looking ahead, she will retain her current role as Head of Deal Advisory with KPMG in the UK, but as KPMG International’s Head of Global Deal Advisory, she will add a number of new responsibilities to her agenda. These include the scaling and evolving of KPMG’s transactions business, continuing to invest in its global strategy business, and building enhanced connectivity across the wider advisory business to help clients across and out the deal life cycle.
Speaking on her appointment, Claydon noted, “I’m incredibly proud to take on a global leadership role within the Deal Advisory space. We may be living through challenging times, but I firmly believe KPMG has some of the brightest and best in the business and that’s backed up by our significant investments in new technology and tools to truly unlock our capabilities and help our clients tap into the right opportunities and right time.”
The world is in a period of turbulence and deep uncertainty, with economic downturns and geopolitical disturbances abounding. Amid this, businesses are re-assessing and re-evaluating their business models and growth strategy. As a result, KPMG’s deal advisory experts are finding themselves in keen demand, as clients look for advice on navigating deals that can help insulate them from the storm.
Responding to this demand, KPMG UK has announced changes to its deal advisory leadership team. Jonathan Boyers has been appointed as a Vice Chair for the firm and also as Executive Chair of Corporate Finance. With over 33 years of dealmaking experience, he will now play a larger role in the firm’s strategic activity, with a focus on inorganic growth. At the same time, stepping into his shoes as UK Corporate Finance, is Rob Baxter. A Partner and UK Head of Consumer Goods & Retail M&A at KPMG, and he has over 20 years of corporate finance expertise.
“I would like to congratulate Jonathan and Rob on their new appointments,” Claydon added. “They are both extremely talented and trusted leaders, and I look forward to working with them to deliver our growth strategy for the future, while ensuring we continue to deliver value for our clients.”
Meanwhile, KPMG has also strengthened the deal advisory business with the promotion of 21 new partners. A further 185 colleagues have also been promoted, demonstrating the strength and growth of the business.
Claydon concluded, “With over 130 deal advisory partners now in the market, I am incredibly proud to welcome 21 new partners to our business, alongside the promotion of 185 colleagues. It’s fantastic to see so many of our partners and people recognised for their hard work, dedication, and expertise. Investing in our people is at the heart of our strategy, and these promotions are testament to the breadth of skills and diversity of talent we have in our business.”
