Waqas Samad joins Oliver Wyman as Senior Advisor

Oliver Wyman has added a new Senior Advisor to its financial infrastructure, technology and services platform. Waqas Samad joins the firm with more than 20 years of experience in the financial sector.

Global management consultancy Oliver Wyman has more than 6,000 professionals around the world, based in offices in more than 70 cities across 30 countries. The firm combines deep industry knowledge with specialised expertise in strategy, operations, risk management, and organisation transformation.

As the economic downturn sees companies of all sectors turn to external advisors for support, Oliver Wyman is enjoying a spike in demand for its services. In particular, its financial infrastructure, technology and services (FITS) platform, which serves market infrastructure, data, information, technology, and software providers across the financial services ecosystem.

In fact, FITS firms now account for 35% of the aggregate financial services industry value, illustrating the size of the market Oliver Wyman is having to service Joining to help meet this heightened need for support in the FITS service line, Waqas Samad has joined the FITS team as a Senior Advisor.

Waqas arrives having held numerous C-Suite and leadership positions. Most recently, this saw him work as CEO of the FTSE Russell indices business, and as an Executive Committee member at LSE Group. Over the previous two decades, Waqas also worked at Deutsche Bank and Barclays, where he helped develop a range of risk analytics, transforming research-oriented functions to help form new commercial business lines.
